Lost in the Pilgrim Crowd

September 7, 2010:

A thirty Euro taxi ride brought us up the Atlantic coast to Muxía today.  A triangle of Pilgrim trail connects Santiago to Finnesterre and Muxía and the elite Pilgrim walks the whole thing.  Not having arrived in the small port town on foot, we were not eligible to stay in the local refugio.  Tomorrow we return to Santiago but for this evening we are still in the Pilgrim crowd.  We are all frequenting the few local Café-Bars.  AJ and I are agreed that we all look lost and a little bit aimless.  Geographically speaking, at the European continent’s land’s end, there is nowhere left for a Pilgrim to go.  Consoling, AJ paints for the Pilgrim an ever expanding vision:  Pilgrimage is a way of thinking, of living, of interacting with others in everyday affairs.  Pilgrimage is a continuing source of spiritual growth and renewal.  We can all be Pilgrims.
